Mumpasi Meso

Mumpasi Meso was born in the Angolan province of Zaire in 1984. Child of an artist, his father Mumpasi Za Meso awakened his taste for the arts at an early age. From him, he learned the technique of mosaic painting on stone. In 2009, he gained a degree in painting at the Kinshasa School of Fine Arts in the Democratic Republic of Congo.



Already during his studies, Mumpasi participated in many group and solo exhibitions in various countries such as Congo, Gabon, Angola, Italy, Spain, Brazil and the Netherlands. Mumpasi is a master in orchestrating colors and forms using different techniques and has his own signature in it. He mainly paints portraits and figures, in which he goes back to the universal values ​​and feelings of man and the spiritual connection of man with his environment. His work has won several awards, most recently he won the prize for Best International Painter at the prestigious VIII International Salon of Plastic Arts, Cia Arte Cultura 2018, Sao Paulo / Brazil.



As an artist, Mumpasi Meso’s philosophy is characterised by his interpretation of every moment of human consciousness, as well as hope and love.



Throughout his career, he has been fascinated by human nature and spirituality. He investigates how people are part of nature and the wider universe, how people are essentially connected in their daily lives and behaviour.



His work is a positive quest to explore human nature, for emotions, experiences, feelings, and perceptions that connect. With ever-changing techniques, he manages to draw people from their daily worries through beautiful rhythmic orchestrations of colours and shapes into various materials that show humanity and provide universal recognition.
