InXsaniXty

Sani Sani-Mohammed (INxSANIxTY) is a contemporary visual artist from Peckham, Southeast London. INxSANIxTY works across a range of mediums, from digital art to wood and oil painting on canvas. He describes his work as poetry with a functional aspect, divided into three major pillars: teaching the audience about themselves through art; teaching the audience about the artist and his culture; and finally, pushing creativity to trigger feelings ranging from joy to introspection. His subject matter is deeply inspired by his West African (Nigerian) heritage, London culture, and social commentary.

Born in London on June 3rd, 1993, he moved to Nigeria at the age of seven. It was there, exposed to a multitude of cultures, that he first learned he was artistically gifted. He lived in Nigeria for eight years before returning to London in 2008. Upon arrival, he joined the Air Training Corps where his love for aircraft intensified. Initially aiming to join the Air Force as an engineer or pilot, he attended Southwark College (2009-2011) to study science and electronic engineering before reading for an Aeronautical Engineering degree at the University of Brighton. While at Brighton, he spent his free time drawing and creating, and by his second year, it became clear that art was his true calling.

In the summer of 2014, he returned to London and began studying for a new degree in Event Management while simultaneously establishing INxSANIxTY Art. During this time, he self-studied the nuances of becoming a professional artist, perfecting his craft and navigating the art world.

By the summer of 2015, he participated in his first group show at House of Vans, Waterloo. Since then, he has established his own studio in Peckham and has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, public art displays, festivals, and workshops at venues including the Tate Exchange, Church House, The Africa Centre, and Mall Galleries.

INxSANIxTY has also been featured in local and international media, including Viceland UK, the BBC, the Evening Standard, and The New York Times.
