The Hawthorne effect ( also referred to as the observer effect ) is by definition a type of reactivity in which individuals modify an aspect of their behaviour in response to their awareness of being observed.
The series presents a dynamic range of poses, moods, movements and expressions, emphasising exploration and play. These images are equally about the conscious and subconscious nature of being gazed at and posing in front of the camera.
By setting random parameters to provoke a spontaneous reaction from the subject, the series becomes an exploration of an undefined aesthetic.
