Inspired by the backbreaking labor of custodians and domestic workers, such as Simba's own mother in Rwanda - she is portrayed in a holy white glow- and the common household objects with which they work, this piece is an homage to the tools and tasks of the forgotten laborers. Simba elevates and deifies these workers and their instruments, deconstructing each to their essential parts to exemplify their beauty and utility. Like Birds and Butterflies, this panel was created by a master carpenter custom for Simba, and is supported by a wooden skeleton on the back of the panel.
