Overview
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Silas Adelanke Adeoye's works represent a continuation in the tradition of Yoruba art, as shown by his choice of pigment to suit each motif. Silas believes that it is the responsibility of the modern artist to extend the enjoyment of this form of expression to the people in the manner that music and poetry are today.

Biography

Born in Osun State, South-western part of Nigeria, Silas experiments with various ideas and styles independently. His father motivated him to became an artist since a young age.

The artist developed his passion for symmetry thanks to his father and his handwriting, whose he has always adored the symmetry and general flow.

Unfortunately, Silas lost his father when he was only 10 years old, and continues to honour him to this day by putting his doodles on paper as best as he could.

 

Silas Adelanke Adeoye's works represent a continuation in the tradition of Yoruba art, as shown by his choice of pigment to suit each motif. His works seek to weave stories in the same tradition of other storytellers, such as songwriters, carvers and poets.
