The inspiration that characterizes Jimenez's work remains intact, challenging racial and gender stereotypes about black bodies by offering new narratives.

"The more I research black history throughout the diaspora, the more I learn of legacies worth caring for and respecting from our ancestors. That is why I felt the need to seek - visually - new ways to elevate the cultural and liturgical beauty, which holds the myth and message within the Yoruba and Congolese practices that so much characterize the Afro-Cuban idiosyncrasy. At the same time, I wanted this to be in perfect balance in form and content. I began to represent the bodies in my paintings with a more realistic approach, in conversation with the liturgical symbolism of the above-mentioned practices. I am adding elements such as lace patterns, gold painting, for visual depth and meaning these add to my work."

All Jimenez's pieces seek to represent the body as a vessel and a complex map of memories inflicted and conditioned by lived experiences.
