Tan and Black Handwoven Kuba Appliqué Textile

unframed

Size: 60 cm x 64 cm (23.6 in x 25 in)

Visually dynamic and highly textured, this raffia panel expresses geometric patterns typical of Kuba textile art. Created by an artisan of the Kuba People of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in this form of woven textile, called appliqué, Kuba artists use a stencil to cut decorative designs out of a brightly colored cloth, and then sew or apply the designs onto a cloth of a different color.

A great opportunity to acquire a beautiful example of the rich Congolese culture.
